Our Team and Training

Professional People. Reliable Security

At SSF Security, our strength comes from the professionalism, discipline and reliability of our security personnel. We understand that clients are trusting our team with the protection of their people, property, assets and operations, which is why we take recruitment, screening, training and supervision seriously.

We carefully select individuals who demonstrate integrity, good judgement, situational awareness and strong communication skills. Our security officers are expected to remain calm under pressure, follow site procedures, respond responsibly to incidents and represent both SSF Security and our clients with professionalism at all times.

Recruitment and Selection

Our recruitment process is designed to identify people who are suitable for professional security work and capable of meeting the standards expected by our clients. We assess each candidate’s suitability, reliability, communication skills, attitude and ability to work responsibly in different environments.

We consider a candidate’s experience, conduct, customer service approach and ability to remain vigilant throughout an assignment. Security work requires more than simply being present on site. It requires professionalism, awareness, sound decision-making and the ability to communicate clearly with clients, colleagues, visitors and members of the public.

Only candidates who meet our required standards are considered for deployment, and personnel are assigned to duties that are appropriate to their experience, training and licensing requirements.

Identity and Background Checks

SSF Security carries out appropriate pre-employment checks before personnel are deployed. These checks may include identity verification, right to work confirmation, employment history, references and relevant background screening, depending on the role and applicable requirements.

Where the role and screening requirements call for it, our processes are aligned with recognised industry expectations, including the principles of BS7858 security screening. Any specific claim regarding completed screening or compliance is maintained in line with our current records and supporting documentation.

We understand the importance of handling personal information responsibly. Recruitment and screening records are managed securely and processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection requirements.

SIA Licensing and Role Suitability

Where a security role requires a licence under UK law, SSF Security deploys personnel who hold the appropriate and valid Security Industry Authority licence. Licence requirements are considered before deployment, and personnel are assigned only to duties that match their licensing and training.

Depending on the assignment, this may include security guarding, door supervision, public space surveillance using CCTV or other regulated security activities. We recognise that the correct licence, training and experience are essential to providing a lawful and professional security service.

Training Before Deployment

Every security officer receives role-specific guidance before beginning an assignment. Training and preparation are based on the duties involved, the environment in which the officer will work and the requirements set by the client.

This may include site security procedures, access control, patrol responsibilities, emergency arrangements, incident reporting, conflict management, communication procedures, health and safety awareness, customer service and professional conduct.

Before deployment, officers are expected to understand their responsibilities, follow the relevant site instructions and know how to escalate concerns appropriately. This helps create a consistent and controlled approach across different types of security assignments.

Site-Specific Preparation

No two security assignments are exactly the same. A construction site, retail premises, corporate building, residential development, transport location and private event will each have different risks, procedures and expectations.

For this reason, SSF Security places importance on site-specific information and operational briefings. Personnel may receive details about access points, restricted areas, emergency procedures, reporting arrangements, client expectations, visitor management and any known risks connected with the assignment.

Clear preparation helps our security officers begin each assignment with a proper understanding of the location and the standards expected of them.

Conflict Management and Incident Response

Our personnel are trained to communicate professionally and respond calmly when situations become difficult. They are expected to use good judgement, follow agreed procedures and seek assistance or escalate matters when appropriate.

Conflict management is approached with an emphasis on communication, prevention, de-escalation and personal safety. Officers are expected to act within their training, their legal responsibilities and the instructions provided for the assignment.

Accurate reporting is also an important part of professional security work. Where an incident occurs, officers are expected to record relevant details clearly and communicate the matter through the agreed reporting and escalation process.

Health, Safety and Professional Conduct

The safety and wellbeing of clients, visitors, members of the public and our own personnel are central to our working practices. Officers are expected to follow site health and safety procedures, work responsibly and report hazards or concerns through the appropriate channels.

Professional conduct is required on every assignment. This includes punctuality, appropriate presentation, respectful communication, confidentiality, attentiveness and compliance with reasonable client instructions. Our officers understand that their conduct reflects on SSF Security and on the organisation they are protecting.

Ongoing Training and Development

Training does not end when an officer completes their initial preparation. SSF Security supports ongoing development through refresher guidance, operational feedback, supervision and performance monitoring.

As requirements change and officers gain experience, we review performance and identify opportunities to strengthen service delivery. Feedback from clients, supervisors and operational teams helps us improve procedures, address concerns and maintain consistent professional standards.

Where an assignment requires additional knowledge or specific duties, further role-related instruction may be considered before deployment. This ensures that personnel are prepared for the responsibilities connected with their particular role.

Supervision and Accountability

Professional security services require effective communication and accountability. SSF Security maintains contact with personnel and clients throughout assignments, with supervision and operational support arranged according to the nature and requirements of the work.

Our approach may include officer briefings, handover arrangements, welfare checks, supervisory visits, incident reviews and regular communication with the client. These processes help identify issues early, maintain standards and ensure that concerns are dealt with in a timely and responsible way.

We welcome constructive feedback and take client concerns seriously. Any issue raised is reviewed through the appropriate operational process so that lessons can be identified and improvements can be made.

A Culture of Integrity and Respect

At SSF Security, we aim to maintain a disciplined, respectful and professional working culture. Our officers are expected to treat clients, colleagues, visitors and members of the public with dignity and fairness while carrying out their duties responsibly.

We value integrity, reliability, teamwork and accountability. These qualities support the trusted relationships we build with clients and help us deliver a professional security presence across commercial premises, construction sites, events, retail environments, residential developments and other locations.
